See, his driver\u2019s license said Robert J. Thompson.<\/em>
The documents? Bob Thompson.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And it\u2019s avoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here\u2019s what went wrong \u2014 and how you can make sure your next signing doesn\u2019t turn into a sequel:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1\ufe0f<\/strong>\u20e3 Names must match exactly.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your ID says Robert James Thompson<\/em>, but your loan package says Bob Thompson<\/em>, the notary can\u2019t legally proceed.
The name on the ID and the name on the documents must match exactly as stated<\/strong> \u2014 no nicknames, abbreviations, or \u201cthat\u2019s what I usually go by.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
